Happy fourth of July to everyone! Without any track days on the calendar and the beaches packed, I decided to stay home for the most part. I did however, take the night out on Friday to watch The Megan Fox movie. Critics gave it terrible reviews but that didn’t stop it from grossing $293 million dollars in 2 weeks, besting its closest competitor Up at a mere $264 million in 6 weeks. I guess sex appeal takes another home for the team and the higher ups at Paramount must be patting each other on the back right about now.

I’m sure the production budget was in the hundreds of millions, what with all the explosions; and let’s not forget, this is Michael Bay we’re talking about – explosions galore! When I was watching the first 5 minutes of the movie, I started to think we were in the wrong theater until so many explosions started going off that I lost count, after 30 seconds. Honestly, it wasn’t that bad. I was entertained, and ultimately, that’s what you pay for.

Being the car obsessed fanatic that I am, I couldn’t help but notice the prototype Corvette in the movie. I’m confident the production version won’t look quite so I, Robot, but they’re off to a good start. If the performance is anything like the C6, I would love to get some seat time on the track with one. I’ve been seeing a lot more ZR-1’s on the streets lately and what amazing machines they are; let’s hope the next generation continues to amaze despite the times.
