Bob Chen founded Ming Hong International in 1995 to pursue his passion in gourmet Asian foods. After a 20-year stint as captain onboard transoceanic merchant marine ships, he decided to turn his well-traveled world knowledge and love for Japanese/Asian cuisine into a successful food wholesale business.
When Ming Hong Food needed a website, Randy Chen (Mr. Bob Chen’s son), turned to me for a web solution with content management and search engine optimization. Randy and I are racers in arms (Team SCS) and I also happen to be the guy who always carries Randy home after he passes out drunk.
Working with Randy was easy as can be; I used my favorite open source CMS once more: WordPress. However it wasn’t Randy I had to impress; the Ming Hong staff needed to be able to update the homepage with new products as well as the news/events with the latest happenings.
When it was all over, the staff was amazed at how easy it was to make updates. Mr. Bob Chen was kind enough to send me $100 worth of Starbucks gift cards on top of my payment; I had free Starbucks for 3 months after that. It was great on the wallet, but so much for the diet (high calories for sure).
