Around the time I was getting very serious with modifying my 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi and I’d heard Ben Schaffer was in need of a web designer for his online retail business selling high dollar JDM performance parts. I was hoping to engage in a parts-for-labor relationship and looked into it further.

He wanted designers to compete in a contest to see who could design the best layout for his blog, The Real JDM. I did my best, got pretty close and in the end, it came down to me and one other guy. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it ended up going to the other guy.

To be honest, I was particularly pleased with my own design and I thought it would’ve been a good fit, especially considering that he was already using my favorite CMS (WordPress) to power the backend. It would’ve been an easy transition for me, but sometimes that’s how it goes.

If there’s any other aftermarket retailers out there that want to do parts-for-labor, I’m all in, give me a call right away. For your reference, I’m in dire need of Cosworth cylinder heads for an EJ25 with dual AVCS; that’ll go with my new short block nicely.
